I was eyeing this little puppy of an app as soon as I got my iPad.  Not an artist by any means, I was still curious as to how this performed.  Last night I checked my AppSniper app, and to my surprise I saw that SketchBook Pro was 50% off until July 4th.  I bought it last night and missed an hour’s sleep.  My first impressions of this app were fantastic…the sheer versatility of SketchBook Pro really wowed me on the iPad.  There are so many brushstroke types, sizes, colours and layers at your disposal, you can play around for hours and still find something new!  Yet they created this app with such simplicity, even the most amateur artist or doodler won’t have trouble navigating through the menus.  You can even upload photos and manipulate them with this software.

SketchBook Pro is $7.99 at full price, but it is currently offered at $3.99 until July 4th.  I highly recommend that you pick this amazing app up.  Even at full price, SketchBook Pro joins the growing list of iPad HD’s Must Have Apps!

Apple Inc. has released Find My iPhone for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.  This is a universal App that is optimized for all three iProducts.  If you were to lose any of your iDevices, you can install this on another, log in to your MobileMe account and pinpoint the whereabouts of your lost treasure.  Find my iPhone is free and available to download through iTunes.

Gameloft has released their opening cinematic for Let’s Golf 2 for your viewing pleasure.  It will be available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Google has updated their Google Earth app to be a universal app that is optimized for both the iPhone and the iPad.  Changes include:

Full resolution imagery and an iPad-specific look and feel.

Road layer added for iPad and iPhone 3Gs.

Google Earth is free and you can download it right from or iPad or by clicking the iTunes link below.

iMovie will be available (and exclusively) for the iPhone 4′s release, but according to some sources within Apple, iMovie may be heading to the iPad around the time iOS 4 hits the tablet this fall.  It seems like a natural progression considering the power of the iPad and its larger touch screen real estate.  Now if only the iPad had a front and rear facing camera…

If you are the proud owner of an iPad but never owned an iPhone or iPod Touch, you may have missed this hidden gem of an app. It’s called AppSniper by Manta Research and it’s guaranteed to save you money on your app purchases! This app proudly sits on the front page of both my iPad and iPhone and I use it everyday.

From time to time, developers will discount their apps to drive sales and hopefully get more reviews and a top spot on the App Store. AppSniper will show you what apps go on sale. The fantastic thing about this app is that you can ‘snipe’ a particular app you wish to purchase and AppSniper will notify you when that App goes on sale!

AppSniper’s interface is clean and simple to use. When you start up the app, you are greeted to a list of all the apps that have recently gone on sale.  From there you can toggle over to new apps, view hot apps and search particular apps you would like to see on sale.  AppSniper doesn’t choose favourites…they’ll list everything that goes on sale at a particular time and sometimes it can be a very long list!  The list of apps that go on sale can be surprising…you have to sift through a lot of apps but you may come across a terrific app you never knew existed!

Users of Skype for the iPhone (yes it also works on the iPad!) got the long awaited update they were asking for…in the form of 3G calling. Many were upset over the fact that Skype would be charging a ‘small monthly fee’ after the end of August for this feature. As a result, some of these users have given the Skype app a low rating on the App Store…not for the functionality of the app itself, but for the idea of being charged for 3G calling.

Now, Skype has extended the free service of 3G calling to the end of 2010. They are obviously taking the negative feedback into account by adding this extention, but is it enough to appease their customers? Will this give Skype more time to reconsider if 3G charging should be implemented? Does this go against Skype’s buisiness model of free Skype to Skype calling? Tell us what do you think.
